Yes it is. Thanks for your opinion. :thumbsup
With that photo i think it is quite impossible to know if it is a photo manipulation... i'll try to find the website again and try to find an email to ask where did the guy took the photo. I'm really courious about that!

To what end? What sort of motive would there be to alter a photo of this badge? Quite a bit of time and effort would have gone into altering the photo so well (if that were done) including shifting the center "M" down. I just don't see why anyone would go to such lengths to do that. However, creating a fake, yet believable new badge that could then be sold for profit seems to be much more possible.

The only badges I've seen for the IMO academy have had the same design on the face throughout its existence - all three letters in a straight line and layered in gold without a white "CCCP" anywhere.

Do not understimate a man with a lot of spare time :D (well... not my case)
Here it is a Photoshop-Dvor IMO badge. Wrong font but... it was done in 10 minutes.
I don't know what to think... for what i remember the image was on a non commercial website, just for display. I think of a photo manipulation but i'm a possibilist on the fake... maybe one day we'll see a better image.

Re: Fake Academy Badges

You are right - I underestimate the power of Photoshop and the abilities of those who wish to misuse it.:(

Re: Fake Academy Badges

Just out of curiosity, what are the odds of one of these badges being faked? I know the photo is lousy but it's the vendor's. By the way what is a decent price for one of these?

Re: Fake Academy Badges

Ciao Filo,

"go quiet" as in "vai tranquillo"?

I've bought some parachute badges from him that were good.

Academy Badges

Hello,

I have a few questions about this military academy badges.

Is this time table correct?
At first there were shields with the year, than the badge had a unified shield with CCCP, in 1957 to 1961 the badge got a new design with BY.
In 1961 the old badges were replaced by the blue rombus badges.

Now I read, that the small round badges with BY were awarded till the end of the soviet union in 1991. Is that correct?
What are the correct awarding dates?

thanks and best regards
Andreas
