I would say this is a qualification badge for aviators. I don't know what it could be worth, but I don't think these are faked.

I've seen these qualification badges sell for under $1 for the trio MANY times. Nice items you can buy without breaking the bank. You can very often find them for sale unissued in plastic bags fresh from the factory too.

Even though this example is a mechanic's, not pilot's, badge this is what rakkasan's asking about. This is the '86 style badge with the longer wings. What he's got in post one has a more Soviet style to it and I dare say might be an earlier version but I've found no proof of it.
Best place to ask would be the DDR forum at the wehrmacht awards page forum.

Qualification Badges Of The National People's Army.
Or, Classification/Qualification Badges these are third series badges from the 1986-1990 period. They came in 1st 2nd and 3rd and some (M) Master classes. They were worn over the right breast pocket.

Picture showing proper location to be worn, this is a second series Panzer Badge. The other award on the pocket itself is a NVA Sports Badge.

Were all those badges for enlisted personnel or did officers wear them as well? I have a signal's version on my officer's uniform.
