Narovd,

Welcome to the forum! This badge definitely looks like what it should.

Re: KGB and "Egg" Badges

Yes, relatively good condition considering it's mid- to late 1980s with rivets instead of wires bent on the back. However, with a number that high and that much of the gold and silver finish worn off, $750 is way too high. :thumbsdown But then, most of these badges are overpriced. It's the rarity of them I guess - and the intrigue:smoke

Sorry to take so long... I am not sure if this is the same badge... but it is one of them.

Re: KGB and "Egg" Badges

Everything seems okay to me. The wires holding the star on through the back are indicative of that low serial number (probably mid to late 1970s). It's a beautiful piece with no damage from what I can see to the star and the hilt of the sword still has 99% of its gold plating still intact. :thumbsup I am inclined to say that it is authentic with the reservation that I can't see close-ups of the enamel and the text in the ribbon. If you can get closer shots of the ribbon thst would be great. If you used a digital camera, Windows Photo Gallery will allow you to just the three sections of the ribbon.

You implied you had more. What other KGB shield and sword badges can you show us?

I have three of the "Honored Worker" badges... and I have no reservations on authentic. ;)

I also have the 50, 60 and 70 years jubilee badges, and a few of the “locally” produced jubilee badges. No big deal, you have probably see them all before.

"Seen" - maybe. Held them in my hands - it depends. I have two "Honored Worker" badges, the 50th and 60th anniversary badges, and would consider selling a kidney for a high quality 70th since that one is still eluding me.

I'd love to see the regional badges you have (or at least tell me which ones you have and I'll let you know if I've seen them or not) that you call "no big deal." In fact, I would be elated if members uploaded photos of the more uncommon badges that should be all over this thread.

My most prized unusual pieces are the ММД made ПГУ and СВР Intelligence Service badges that I was given in Moscow. Photos of them and much of my modest KGB collection are in this thread somewhere. I don't know if I put up any of my 60th anniversary that I recently acquired, but I should because I really like that one for the colors.

But in all seriousness, I think we need to see more of what people have in this category since seeing and observing is how we all learn on this forum and my brain is ready :weird (or not ;)). I don't just want to see what the latest bad fakes are, I want to see real photos of real awards. Excuse my rant, please.:o

Re: KGB and "Egg" Badges

My oh my. You sir have one mighty fine specimen there. I don't suppose you have an extra is such exceptional quality? Remeber I have a slight used kidney and a few organs and limbs that I don't use often enough. Or cash money if you prefer.

I know you are just gloating over my lack of one like yours, but in all seriousness, should you ever come across another one even close to the same quality, please keep me in mind.

Thank you very much for the glimpse of that beautiful piece.

LOL. It may cost an arm and a leg... but I am not looking for one. :chuckle

It was meant in good humor (not to gloat). Unfortunately, I only have one each of the 50, 60 and 70 year jubilee badges (issued by the Mint). But I will let you know if one shows up (they are getting pricey).

Re: KGB and "Egg" Badges

Yes and it would be very sad if I can't find the least expensive of the KGB badges before they too get ridiculous.

Oh, and I took it as a joke, the way you meant it. Good colletors don't gloat over their own or dismiss other people's collections.

So great, if you run into a 70th, please let me know.

Many thanks,
Phillip
