I think it´s ukrainian. Could it be genuine? It´s not in any reference material.
Best wishes
I can't make out the left side of the badge, but the right side reads the city name "Dnepropetrovsk" located in Ukraine.

Could I get an opinion please? Original or fake? Thanks

And the reverse with serial number. Are these badges commonly faked as well or is it pretty safe normally.

Hi Danny,

I am not at all an expert in the area of badges, especially NKVD/KGB, but I know that they are very widely faked.
Now, I cannot, as I explained above, give you an opinion as to the genuineness of this badge, but other members can.

I've received these somewhat closer scans. I lightened up the scans so to afford better details.
I hope these will suffice. Opinions? Thanks.

Danny,

From these scans I can't tell. Fake badges often have very worn mint and proof marks, shaky horizontal lines and digits on the front. I can't see any of those details.

I'm trying to compare this one with the one on your website. Both images appear to be too small. Let me ask for very close scans and see what I can come up with.

Ok no other scans are possible other than those. The seller advised he is unsure of the authenticity, therefore selling it as a copy.

A KGB badge being offered as a KGB counter-intelligence badge. I believe I have found it in Avers 5 page 255 #1264 but am unsure if it is faked or not. Your opinions please?

And the reverse. It is described as heavy metal but looks like some sort of aluminium. Obviously the screwpost has been resoldered. Thank you.

It is a fantasy piece.

Danny,

There seem to be a never ending supply of these lately. I don't like the fake looking patina on the back, and the red enamel seems to be off-shade on the front.

Danny,

I am leaning towards OK, at least I don't see any obvious problems.
