Alex,
I don't believe so. Apparently the UK are simply transcribed without serial number information. Marc |

Re: How to use Podvignaroda.ru.
Friends,
I'm searching for someone on Podvig, who appears to have a common name "железнов, василий иванович" His rank on the 2 docs i have is "Starshij Lejtenant" - VOG doc & "GV Starshij Lejtenant" - 30 years of AF doc My question being, what would his rank be shown as on podvig for either of those? Would it be either гв ст лейтенант or ст лейтенант? or something different depending on his rank at the time of awarding? The only other clue i have is that his vog doc was awarded by the 858 Assault Aviation Regiment. Any help appreciated. Cheers, Tom |

Re: How to use Podvignaroda.ru.
It may be a lieutenant of any persuasion. If the documents are awarded by a region search by it. If a unit just seek till you find a matching citation. He may not be there at all either. The ratio of VOGs to awards is not 1/1.

It would be either "гв. ст. лейтенант" or "ст. лейтенант", depending on whether or not his award sheet has him as a Guards officer.
Do you know if your guy received any numbered awards? |

Re: How to use Podvignaroda.ru.
Well the site has been overhauled and this old guide is now pretty redundant. I'll create a new guide when I have time.
I've also noticed lots of NKGB citations popping up.... Great stuff!
