Unusual Guards badge or outright fake?
Hi Guys, I saw this today on E. Not something I am planning on buying.
What caught my eye was the underside of the banner. What is happening there? Is this a fringed banner badge that some one has altered? No pic of the reverse was shown in the auction which would have answered the question with ease. Cheers, Ade |

Hi Ade,
For me that's the fringe. Some badges have it clearer and more defined than others. But, I don't pretend being an expert, and will let the others talk with certainty... ;) Cheers. Ch. |

Doesn't look bad to me
Background of the banner on the later badges have the loops as opposed to the the stippling or flat background of the wartime ones. I have a number of presumed wartime badges and there are a lot of little variations in thickness of borders and other fine details

Ade,
I agree with Jeffrey on this one. I believe that this is a wartime "no fringe" badge. Marc |
