Badge "Alpinist Of The USSR".
Hi all
I thought I would start a sports badge thread. I don't usually go for badges but I likes this one as I was a bit of a climber once myself. It is a small but beautifully made item. What I am wondering about is the serial number. I can't believe there were 19661 mountain climbers in the USSR, let alone that many 1st class ones! Is it possible that this means 1966, number 1 or is that wishful thinking. I think it is (wishful thinking) but some of you may know better. Anyone have any ideas as to the size of the number, or know anything about sports badge numbering convensions. bye for now McL |
