Hi Laurent,
I saw those and the various other ones too, hard to say what it could be. The St George and the dragon on the central medallion would seem to indicate some sort of veterans badge for active combat service, just a risky guess right now of course. maybe a russian speaker could try and decipher the writing on the center which i have tried to enlarge.

Eddie.

Thanks for the translation :)
So we have a Badge for "Love and Faithfulness to the Fatherland" issued most probably by a veterans commitee and not as described by president Putin. Its not an official issue badge, these are all shown on the government site. I'll keep my eyes open for more info on this one.

Best regards Eddie.

A little hard to read but looks like the word Lubov (Love) was written in old Russian, with a 'iat' at the end. Maybe a monarchist badge? Sergei.

It might be one of the Orthodox church awards.

Marc, I think you may be right. From the pictures I've seen, the dominant motive of the Russian Orthodox Church orders is a cross but not exceptionally so (attached) and not necessarily a cross of the orthodox variety which I find very confusing. The old Russian language in inscriptions is present, but very rarely, I've only seen a picture of Vladimir's order with some writing in old Russian. Sergei.

Guys,
Two things put me off thinking that its a religious Order / Badge and that is the fact that the Badge posted has crossed swords and secondly St George fighting a dragon. Correct me if im wrong but these two motives are not usually associated with religious awards. All guess work right now though lets see what else turns up. Below are two typical religious awards. And the far right one is the badge laurent posted

This order in Five Classes was first called "Holy symbol" and mainly awarded to foreign members of the orthodox church. The first were awarded in the spring of 1958. Iliya Karam from lebanon and the emperor of Ethiopia Khaile Selassie I were both awaded this order and the first Russian to be given it was Alexii I on the 18th July 1961. The Order could also be awarded to temples, monasteries and entire bishoprics. In 1964 the Vladimir I degree was received by the Moscow Dukhovnaya Academy and in 1977 the Leningrad Spiritual Academy.
Just a side note, the difference between the Russian Orthodox cross and a Catholic crucifix is the symbols on the end of the crossbar are in Greek. The one on the right stands for Jesus, the one on the left stands for Christ. The skull and crossbones at the bottom represent Adam, the first man, who is believed to be buried in Golgotha. The top is the same as the Catholic crucifix, INRI, King of the Jews.
