MVD Identity.

I know this thread says MVD "badges" but I didn't want to open a whole new thread for just one little oddity.

I just got this in with a shipment of odds and ends from a fellow in Novgorod. Since it didn't cost me anything (per se), I don't really care if it's fake. But, I do find it interesting because it is made like the leather wallets we made in Cub Scouts in the 1970s and on the cover you can see from the photo that the seal (gerb) was pressed twice but gilded once. The "lanyard" loop makes sense for this kind of thing and the plastic covers inside seem genuinely worn.

The MVD ID I stuck inside to illustrate the point about the plastic is very likely a fake considering the source, so there's no need for comment on that. It's just a prop.:)

Sorry about the darkness of the first photo, but it was the only one that didn't have too much reflection on it.

Phillip

Re: MVD and Militia badges Including academies

deValcourt no worry about the wallet, my uncle use to have one like this or a similar one, that type of tying was really common in 70-80s, even for belts or lady's bag made of leather. The double press could be usual factory defect.

Hello, does anybody know what kind of ID this is and what his name is? Can't find some of the "written" letters on my russian keyboard.

Thanks!

Re: МВД Ministry Of Internal Affairs Identification.

As much as I like this doc, is it authentic?
I mean - it looks good, the position he held was not that super-secret-interesting to make me think it's a fake (chief of transport department), but few things coughtmy attention:
1.he is listed as general-major of militia - generals in militia were called comissars for most of the time (but OK, it's possible the rank name was already changed in 1984, as they were for sure called generals in 1991)
2.He seems to be wearing wide shoulderboards on his uniform, while militia generals had the boards narrower than those worn by army generals
3.He is realy well-decorated, while the majority of the militia officers I have seen hardly ever had anything more than long service medals.

My doubts of course may be just syndroms of paranoia - I like the document, but there's so many fake and fantasy soviet docs that I am always full ofdoubts when something that nice shows up.

Re: МВД Ministry Of Internal Affairs Identification.

Good question, I am really in the dark when it comes to documents... But as you said justly in my opinion, is it really profitable enough to countrfeit a 80's document?
