BTW, if you wanna email me those images of your beautiful display I might be able to make them bigger (in Photoshop) so we can all see what you got there.
Also, what are "T head pins"? I might be able to use them.

hey,

i will send you the pictures ASAP and when i get home, i will take a picture of a 't-head' pin so thet you can see it clearly. you can kind of see them in the pictures, but a clearer picture can be taken. thanks for your help!

latinmajorac,

What I don't understand is why after clicking on the Attached Thumbnails, the pics we see are almost as small as the thumbnails themselves, when in fact your pictures should show quite larger, as they are in the 46.x - 48.x KB range!

Maybe EricFG will be able to post them in a way we can see them as usually.

Nice looking collection. As for your question, it all depends if you have a desire to a collection that depicts the world of Soviet Medals or concentrate on a few high end orders which will make you money down the road.

I am a theme collector, Jubilee, Labor, Railway, Mothers, etc, etc, etc. After I display medals of a theme, I do not display duplicates, unless it fits within another theme, IE, Meritorious Labor of the GPW hangs in both my Labor case and GPW case. Also I have a BAM in my Labor Case and Railway case. I do not collect for profit, just for the joy of collecting and the beauty of Soviet medals and orders.

Most important of all, regardless of how you collect, medals kept in a box or drawer have no aesthetic value.

pictures maybe working? eric, the god of fotoshop helped me out. hopefully these will work.

in these pictures, assuming they work, you can see the type of pins i used to mount them. the 't' head pin sworked really well i must say.

eric, the brads that you used are similar in function if not form. i suppose that it would be up to you which you used. depending on background color and stuff it is in my opinion 6 of one half dozen of another. your displays eric are beautiful!

thanks again!

so here are the other pictures i took!

eric, whatever you did, you did it amazingly well!

It's better now It works, you see!

Latinmajorac, may I ask what you have on the background of the display case?
No glass on the front, right?

Thanks,

Dolf

i have nothing on the background, it is just black foam coure presentation board (two of them glued to each other). adding felt, velvet, etc is simply tomuch work for something like this. the way my room is set up this is at the head of my bed so noone can really get that close to it at all. however, even on closer inspection, the black foamcore (as long as it isn't dinged, streaked or otherwise damaged) makes a great background!

yep, no glass on the front. i am thinking of installi ng a few lights around the inside to provede a back glow effect. if i were to put glass in from of it, i would use 1/8th inch plexiglass. it is less likely to break and is much easier to deal with when compared to glass

thanks riley! i think saving is going to be the order of the day... christmas time will definately buy something nice!

I asked about the background because on my displays I habe black foam, but it looks like sponge, see what I mean?
Yours looks much nicer, very uniform and flat, as if it was some kind of smooth card. Very attractive!

Keep on rolling
