KGB hats?
Do KGB visor hats even exist?
I have yet to see ANY KGB visors anywhere, except for the copies on *****************, I have no luck, and even then its only one hat they have with heavy gross embroidery. Do they exist? Or are they a myth? |

Re: KGB hats?
Yes, they are out there, I have sold probably a few dozen in the past 10+ years...the problem is that you need to narrow down what you are looking for..do you mean the flashy parade KGB General (in which case no, in my opinion they are copies), or KGB officer...if KGB officer, what era? 1960s-1980s they are not all that rare and real ones do show up on E ( though the fakes are more common)...when you get to the 1950's the search gets tougher.

Re: KGB general hats?
i think , that you don't mean the officer one's ?
because they are around not common, and if they turn up they are pretty expensive because of the wow factor. i think you meant the general cap's, i have seen a few, and some service general caps are accepted as real. some general service tent to be honer-guard cap's. but the biggest part of them are very quickly recognized as replica's. i have not yet seen an general parade cap witch was accepted as real. some of the summer (walking-out) gray topped cap's are accepted as real , though i have only seen one or two. see this: http://www.soviet-awards.com/forum/s...or-cap-eb.html :idea Last edited by Ser-g; 10-21-2008 at 04:38 AM. Re: KGB hats?
Exactly!
Something like that you just showed me. I'm having real trouble finding them, even just simple KGB visors. Bah...I hate and I love this hobby...so tricky. |

Re: KGB hats?
I found a pair of KGB visors once -- they were marked as cav caps. I've never seen others in person though.

Re: KGB hats?
in this case getting hold of one takes one major thing, Patience :laff
they do turn up on the big E, because a few people are looking for them they tent to rise very fast in price. i love the hobby, the thing that i like most is opening packages in the mail. you know the feelin if you open it and you know you got some thing real good. then i normally take the hole cap apart (badge buttons) and clean it all up. i love the feelin of that!:yahoo |

Re: KGB hats?
Yes, you can find them, but the 1970's and 80's pieces are the most common. Likewise, it seems that I see more of the field service offered than the parade examples. The 1954 parade issue example (grey, royal blue, brass motif on brim) are becoming faked due to its rarity. The 1954 parade example is somewhat difficult to locate in great condition. Most of these Zhukov style visors are easliy moth-eaten over time. If you are interested, I might have one for sale. Please contact me at deathtospies1922@yahoo.com. Thank you for the post!:thumbsup
