More treasures from Lithuania (balticcollections)

Hi,
From the worlds' biggest auction site ... In addition to the previous post ...
Fresh from Panevezys, Lithuania
Rare documented group of duplicates with hand-engraved serial numbers and cyrillic "D" on all items. Of course, nevsky is a fake, the rest is just authentic, but mutilated pieces. Somebody shelled out over $1600 for this pile of silver, well, if these were all kosher, it would've been a deal of a year, but ...
Hope the buyer is not a forum member, getting refund from Lithuania is troublesome.
Enjoy the scans... :laff

All the patina looks like it was slapped on with a pastry brush..... I also wouldn't be surprised if it were made of egg!

The "patina" or the medal?

It is tragic that people get cheated with this dreck and then, justifiably, drop out of the 'hobby'.

The patina.... although I have seen some items that could well have been made of egg.... Fake patina is a great way to cover sins....

It aggravates me that someone used the "Dynamo" Latin script D to indicate what I suppose stands for "Dublikat" which then in some parallel world justifies the re-writing of serial numbers.

Marc, could you tell why did you decide so? In my opinion, the ORB’s base is Krasnokamask-minted.
And I see no signs of OPW1 star’s casting.
The pictures are too small, but IMHO at ORB and OPW1, numbers have been replaced only. Isn't that right?

Drill,

I believe that this mintmark on the ORB resembles the Krasnokamsk one, but is of modern manufacture. As to the OPW1, the golden back plate shows defects that, to me, look like casting problems.

Re: More treasures from Lithuania (balticcollections)

Mark, the order's book is 100% legit. As far as the orders, other than nevsky, I didn't spend any time looking at them, since the nevsky and hand-writing of newly engraved numbers and "D" was more than enough for me :-)) Now, revisited the pics again, and yes, PW1 and RB are outright fakes.

So, carefull, guys, as they get better and better. I just wish there was some law to stop this for good, and/or fine them financially for their scam.
