I have bought this Order for Personal Courage SN 2215, in Berlin, in 2000. Bought to a reputable dealer, I have no concern (a priori, and except if any other evidence from the Forum members) about its authenticity.
Moreover, a careful checking shows that all details seem correct as well as the enamel colour.

What I am wondering about is the following point :
I initially planned to buy an Order for Personal Courage with its associated document. What I have been proposed is this Order SN 2215, with its box and an un-issued booklet. I took the opportunity to buy this not so usually available award.

The box as well as the Order show some wear / use.
The booklet is totally new.

Logically, it looks like an un-issued order, one of the 8000 orders made.
But, could it be an issued one, separated from its associated and issued booklet ?

Has anyone any idea on this point, with regard to its SN ? Has a close SN already be found as an issued - with certainty - award ?

All comments are welcome.

In advance, many thanks.

Ch.

Christophe,

It's almost impossible to answer your question without making an inquiry into archives.

There's little data available about SN ranges of awarder pieces of Personal Courage. SN 2215 seems to be outside of the range, but again - most likely these awards were not given consecutively.

I say your best bet is to do research in archives.

William,

Many thanks for your comments;

When you say "SN 2215 seems to be outside of the range", I imagine you are meaning "outside of the range of the awarded orders".
Am I correct ?
Any idea of the SN corresponding to "inside of the range of the awarded orders".

Exactly. I meant inside of the range of 629 known awards.

I also know a seller in the same part of the world that you bought your award that has a large quantity of blank award books- this book may have very well come from his stock. Last time I saw him, he had a box full of the empty orange/red award cases as well. I'd bet the entire award set up came from him...

I agree with Dave.

Look at the shape of the hole where the order is placed - it could fit any Soviet award.

Order for Personal Courage. SN 2215

Alexei,
Others,

I am now equipped, so here are the weight and measurements for this OPC 2215 :

* Weight :
* Order : 33.0 g
* Suspension + ring : 8.7 g
* Total : 41.7 g.

* Measurements :
* Height : 48.17 mm.
* Width : 44.61 mm.

I hope I did not make any mistake in measuring and weighing : I did not imagine how difficult it is (specially for weighing without disconnecting the suspension) !!! But I did it several times with similar crosschecked figures

All these figures seems to me compliant with the data usually published (Mondvor, this site...).

Do you have any comment on these datas ?
I would be more than interested in any similar figure or element from your database, if you have any (that what I think ! ;)

Cheers.

Ch.

Personal Courage No. 635

Here is a late Order of Personal Courage awarded in 1990 with S/N 635. This number is just at the upper edge of the quantity of awarded orders.

Christophe,

So far your measurements are good. I would also like to know thicknes in mm at the tips of the sunburst and in the middle.
