I don't like the S.N.

All in all it looks like a cast copy.

Sorry, somehow I missed this post.

Unlike most things you see coming out of China, these are real. Amazing.

The first one is "The First Level Hero Model Medal Awarded by the General Political Division of the PLA". (Illustrated Catalogue, p. 58, #557.)

The second is "The Second Level Hero Model Medal Awarded by the General Political Division of the PLA". (Illustrated Catalogue, p. 58, #558.)

Use the word "Hero" rather loosely here (by Soviet standards).

And, yes, these are fairly low quality items. They are post-Mao.

I am not now, nor have I ever been, a Dealer.

I do know they turn up pretty frequently. Probably among the most often-seen real Chinese awards.
