Shopping for the Order of Victory - Page 5

I will tell you why, I don't collect fakes or replicas, if it is not the real thing I don't want it. I have seen the Order of Victory replicas and yes they are beautiful some of them, but its not authentic.

I bought this to dress up my display of real orders and medals.

Guys,

I was offered one in St Petersburg 2 weeks ago for the measly sum of $900! And it was not any better looking than the one on eBay.

When I think that 4 years ago, I have been proposed a very similar one in Berlin... for €100.00 !!

Famous dealer in NJ sells very nice copy, but the price is too high:

"Order of Victory, Museum Quality REPRODUCTION. In silver, gilt, enamels, hand-cut ruby red crystal glass and cubic zirconium.
Extraordinarily well made, probably the best reproduction we've ever handled.

This is reportedly one of the copies made for Soviet museum displays years ago.

Enamel on the center medallion is of very high quality. Details of the Kremlin tower and wall are executed with high precision. The wreath is adorned with small brilliants, just like on the originals. Comes with a matching screw plate.

Diameter 63mm, diameter of the center medallion 33mm. Very high tri-dimensional relief: the highest points of the medallion stand 13mm above the tips of the star.

$3,500.00"

I can't justify paying $3,500 for a copy...

I have seen this ad. I think it is probably the best copy I have ever seen... But I am not really enthousiastic about its profile / side-view (too high and the pieces not assembled with enough precision). I agree the price is too high for a copy, even a good one... at least for me
