General Uniform for sale with strange embroidery

For sale on Ebay at the moment with the description:
This is uniform of the soviet russian general-major, a sample of 1970. It belonged to general V.Kablukov which commanded the third army corpus in the western region USSR. After the Soviet union has broken up,the general retired.

The collar and cuff embroidery looks a bit strange to me, can anybody add further comment?

an ugly fake would be the fisrt tought for me...on very numerous photos I never seen such an embroidery for recent general jackets...I reminds me a variation for M45 parade jackets (huge distance between laurel leaves) but these are beautifully made.
Here, crude gold thread, and only 3 circles sewn between laurel leaves...

Generals uniform

It looks like a bad theatre copy. Probably cost $300 to make, though they could have bought one for half that in Moscow now! Was probably made in the 1970's for some local play.

Its possible it belonged to the general and he had it done as a vet to use at parades if he no longer had his original. Doubt it though.

If it was used for theater (or movie) - why can't they have a genuine uniform?

Did MOSFILM or LENFILM were not allowed to use real uniforms?

MOSFILM/LENFILM

They had HUGE stocks of uniforms, including some very rare and expensive items. I know of a few very good items that came out of the stores there; more on that in another post.

But, local film or theatre companies would have to make do with what they had. So, if this were a local theatre company in, say, L'vov, they might have to improvise a bit.

Also, after 1992, the stores of MOSFILM and Lenfilm were gutted by sale to collectors. They might not have had the uniforms after that.

Still, my bet is local theatre company.

This could also be a new type of cheap fake. It reminds me of Pakistani embroidery. I ge at least one emeial every week from a Pakistani embroidery company offering to make copies of the stuff on my site.

I know at least on collector that had a WWII MSU hat made in Pakistan to fill a gap in his collection.
