A real Gimnasterka?
Hey guys,
someone sells this Uniform on ebay Germany and maybe I want to buy it. But I want an original. My question is if all parts of this uniform match together and if they are original. The seller says it is an original uniform from the pre-KGB organisation in Shukov's time (until 1953). Here is the link for you:original Gimnastjorka Uniform MGB Original RAR!! bei eBay.de: 1918-1945 (endet 10.04.11 20:47:06 MESZ) Thank you and greetings from Germany:) |

Re: A real Gimnasterka?
The shirt itself looks like authentic, well-preserved (probably unissued) gimnastiorka, but from 60's (ask the seller about the date on the back of the buttons). Also, It was originally not designed for the MGB/KGB, as it has standard pockets, not sewn-on.
The shoulderboards look good and if so, they are pre-58 manufacture, but the stars on them ar definately later - and probabl for naval technical branches. I don't know about the cap - the inside looks good, but the outside looks too well-preserved for such a heavy-worn cap. Also, the inside looks like in the 60's caps, while, I think, this colour scheme was abolished after 1958 (may be wrong). Also the buttons are aluminion (or at least seem so). Let us see what will the experts say about it. The mapcase matches the age - it's pre-74, altough I am not sure when this model was introduced. The belt and shoulderstrap - I would guess 70's or 80's (should have the stamp), but could be earlier. The ribbon bar is probably original, but not to this uniform (condition difference and quiteunusual for a Major to have just VoG and jubilee medals...) |

Re: A real Gimnasterka?
MarvWe,
I agree with Al-muell. The gymnasterka is an army one, not a security service one. The cap is OK with possibly changed buttons and chinstrap. Marc |

Thank you for your replies. Here I've got another one for you, but I don't think it matches. What do you mean?

Re: A real Gimnasterka?
That looks like an original army set from the 1960's.
