Deputy Of The Evenk Autonomous Okrug.

In the past I have stuck with SSR's and ASSR's because there are entirely too many sub regions, but with pricing possibly eliminating most from SSR's and ASSR's I have below a sub region that is almost unknown, the Evenki region, in Yakutia and north/north west of Irkutsk oblast.

There are approximately 21,000 inhabitants living in 23 villages, plus an estimated 15 percent migratory residents.

The local council "Suglan" has 23 members so badges are scarce. Attached is a scan of Legislative Council unit or member badge.

Badge is in brass with pinback, appears to be paint under plastic coating. centre design is a typical local carpet design according to their web page. You can visit the web page of the Evenki and find out more about them

So far, I have not come across badges for less that ASSR that were numbered. I checked on this, Kamchatka, Kaliningrad, Pinsk, Krasondar, et al; none numbered.

But it is pin back without mint mark. I can't get the pin to lay flat to scan. Too fuzzy!

THere is a question as to whether this is badge or znashki, (fan of) badge (the lighter aluminium). I will post both sides of CHuvash where the deputy is numbered and the znashki is priced (Kopek). But the Kopek badge there was aluminium. Here we are talking Brass or heavy, and nobody knows, much less cares about the 21,000 evenki, but for the fact that I have apparently now made them famous.

The real point is there are wonderful badges out there like Evenki which are extremely rare and nobody will ever get them all because nobody (until exactly today) has cared who they were.

This badge was a "throw in" when I bought a TsIK for Yakutsia/Sakha. The dealer said it was rare but he did not know what it was except that it was from Siberia! So he "gave" it to me!

If you have unknown badges believed to be from Russia, check out FOTW (Flags of the World) for an interactive map and listing. You can click on the name or region and see their flag (and thereby flag pin). That was how I found who these guys were!

I need to get my camera and digitally photo to get it in focus but there is nothing on the reverse.
