Re: Medal "For Retrieving Crimea".

Any ideas as to what service the individual in the second photo represents?

And restored as a unit of Russian MVD 24th March 2014.

Many "Berkut" soldiers are now the citizens of Russian Federation.

So, both individuals are Berkut?

Re: Medal "For Retrieving Crimea".

Sorry, I'm being unclear. I meant that the recipient in green and the recipient in blue are both Berkut?

Very interesting, overall. I'd love to see a close-up of the medal. I wonder how long it will be before the counterfeiters begin throwing those around!

Re: Medal "For Retrieving Crimea".

I think it's regular army.

As for ministerial awards (and some federal) of the Russian Federation, they are made by contract and there are often hundreds or thousands of correctly produced (by the correct manufacturers) awards produced in numbers beyond what is necessary and this surplus can often be bought up rather cheaply so there is very little need to counterfeit them. Very similar to the situation with United States awards. The original (used) paperwork is what to look out for!

Interesting to see that visor caps' crowns are getting smaller again...

The man in green is a marine: he is wearing a typical black beret.
