Issued by the Soviet Union's government. As far as I know, there are no variations, but I cannot guarantee that 100%.

Tal,
No variations I'm aware of. Fairly common award. With book I'd pay 10-15 USD. Around the same rarity as the International Soldier medal. Art

Chernobyl Medal
According to the booklet "Doblest', Otlitaya b Metall" Pt 2, it was established by the USSR State Committee on Labor and Social issues on 14 May 1990. The text of the decree identifies it as a badge "znak", rather than a medal. The proper name of the badge is "Pariticipant in the Liquadation of effects of the accident at the ChAES (Chernobyl nuclear power plant)".

Umalatova Chrenobyl "medal"
I have the same item, but with a five point suspension ribbon. It was sold to me as another Umalatova award. What can you tell me about it?

Chernobyl and Soldier-Internationalist are legally badges and not medals.

I found this document on E, would this be the correct document for this badge? Keith |

Keith,
I might add that issued documents are much harder to find, and this one is an unusual hard cover variation. Alexei |

I hate to get picky. But where does it refer to the badge? It seems that this document is for participating in the clean-up but is not directly related to the/any badge. I have a similar document awarded for participating in the clean-up of Stalingrad. There was never any badge associated with that one.
