Dulenko, Ivan Timofeevich, Junior Sergent, Rifleman, 217th Maintenance Company

I want to share with you a really nice medal grouping that came in just yesterday.

It comes complete with the Budapest Liberation Medal and Vienna Capture Medal, with documents. I love the hand writing on these certificates.

Can you all tell me who the man is and what the other hand written information reveals?

Nice group!

The recipient is Junior Sergent Ivan Timofeevich Dulenko. No records for him in Podvig. Certificates signed post-war by a Captain from a regional military commissariat (Овипенковский???).

Can we see the Budapest document please?

Re: Really nice and tight medal grouping

The cpt.'s name was Tyutin. MAy be short from something, as the signature seems to end with "y"

Osvipenkovskiy is the geografical name but I have no idea where that is.

Re: Really nice and tight medal grouping

Thanks! The handwritten information on both certificates is exactly the same(dates and etc). This is why I stacked them like that for the photos.

If you like, I can still take the photo and post it. :D

What is a geographical name? Is the name from a certain region?

I second the comment about the captain's name. Note also that where it's spelled out it ends in a period.

Here's the region:

Is it really? The handwriting struck me as slightly different. Also, the rank is abbreviated in one, and the name is written in a different grammatical case on each document. So yes, a picture please! :D

I know that the database is incomplete, but just about every name I put in there comes back with no results... what is the database completeness percentage? Maybe it is just my bad luck?

New pics of the individual documents. These were made possible with the help of my wife's dog, Birdie, who destroyed the bed just for the occasion.

Good doggie :D

Thanks for the pictures. That explains it: the documents were issued by the same commissariat and signed by the same officer, but filled out and presented at different times. The Budapest medal doc was from March 21, while the Vienna medal doc was from July 28. So it seems a different clerk wrote each.

Thank you so very much. I am just getting bummed that I have not had a single hit on the data site. So many names and nada. It would have been an easy research for a grouping! I will just have to keep collecting stuff until I get a hit! LOL

Re: Junior Sergent Ivan Timofeevich Dulenko

In your case these guys just weren't awarded any serial numbered orders or medals, unfortunately. The Podvig Naroda database seems to be almost complete; my success rate (for looking up awards that I know someone received) is close to 100%.
