"For The Liberation Of Shushi" Medal

The "For The Liberation Of Shushi" Medal («Շուշիի Ազատագրման Համար» Մեդալ) was founded on 7th May 1994 for participation in the actions which lead to the liberation of Shushi on 9th May 1992. The unlikely victory over a larger and better equipped Azeri force has taken on a legendary status in the NKR, to such an extent that the success is celebrated above and beyond Victory Over Germany on 9th May each year.

The recipients of this Medal (1030 of them) are seen as national heroes and get numerous official and unofficial benefits.

I have been informed from various sources that this example was the very first ever offered for sale, as recipients and family members alike value this award above any other awarded by the NKR or RA. The back story to this is that the original recipient died and his children were in dispute over who was to inherit it, unable to come to an amicable arrangement, this was the first time I've ever offered a six figure amount for an award.
