Re: Eternal Return
I've seen those two images a few times, usually when I'm reading about the "purges". I think there's quite a few examples of people edited out of Stalin-era photos.
Piss off the Vozhd and you disappear; in more ways than one!

Re: Eternal Return
Yes the two photo i put on top are of soviet era censorship... the one i put on the bottom is modern era censorship.
Irony of the case. |

Re: Eternal Return
I will look for the pics in the afternoon, but therwe are two famous ones:
1.Lenin giving a speech to the crowds. In original version there was Trotskiy standing below. On later (stalinist and post-stalinist period) version of this pic Lyova misteriously disappears... 2.A famous pictore where lenin sits relaxed in a garden accompanied by Stalin sitting in a bit bent forwards pose. From what I know, originally there was no Stalin in this fotograph - he was added later. |

Re: Eternal Return
Those are the pictures. As I see, I didn't remember correctly, since not only Trotskiy but also Kamienev was removed.
As for the last picture - numerous sources state that it is a fake (inclouding a polish schoolbook published in 1989 ), but The original version of the picture is nowhere to be found. I am wondering wether there was somebody else in that seat or is it rather Lenin who was moved from a different picture? |
