2 unknown russian visor caps
hellow al,
i've been collecting russian caps for a wail now. and i just cant place the first cap i know the badge crocade is rong its m55 and the cap aint. but what the hex for a cap is it, i think it might be ukrainian since the side buton's are. further more i dont know any thing about it. the second cap looks at first m58 mvd internal troops to me, but i cant say it is certain to me that it is a original, the visor looks so wierd to me. the collor of the top is the same green as al service uniforms m70. they both have the same maroon blood red band. i hope you folks can help out , |

Hello and welcome to the Forum!
The first cap is odd, might just be an army service cap with improper parade cap device. The second cap is a copy (in my opinion) of a WWII officers cap. You are correct about the brim! DougD Moderator - Cloth |

ya the first is wierd , what made me wonder if it might be a ukrainian is that the inner lining is the rong collor sort of green gray instede of the usaly gray collor it has no makers label as in a oil thing , it does have a clear plastic kinda dimond.
i've included some more pictures, 1 of the inside 2 the cap in question between a parade (armour) and a militia for color 3 next to a armor service cap as you can see it is to gray for a parade to gray for a service and too green for a militia. the band look to me as maroon so mvd. see it your self and please help me out, i almost cant sleep because of this cap  the second ya it was cheap so it is nice to have as a show how caps evolved, it is of the right material and only the inner liner witch is of lether and the visor makes me think about it. people with info about it are welcom to help out. thanks Last edited by Ser-g; 10-18-2007 at 12:06 PM. The first cap is ukrainian MVS. Compare the crown collour. Also, the label is in ukrainian or belorussian judging on the way the letter "i" is written. Also it has a symbol of Odessa headwear factory ond date "94". It has a strange badge - this wreath may by m55 replica, but it seems to be something custom made.
The other one is probably not soviet/post sviet at all. Pictures of the inside would help, but I would guess it may be som soviet-block country. Last edited by Al-muell; 10-19-2007 at 04:24 AM. |

MVS id Ukrainian equivalent of the MVD. Name has the same meaning, but there isn't word "dela" but it's ukrainian equivalent, which is, i think "spravy" or something similar.

Just my 2 cents: that second cap is wierd, but I wouldn't discount it just because of the visor. I have an original M69 armor officer service cap with a patent-leather visor. Wierd variations do turn up.

i've done some more research on this second cap and i have seen an nother cap with the same Visor witch was accepted as priginal.:thumbsup
only this was an early m69 cap and mine tent to be a m55.:idea i've included some pictures of the wird inside, it shows good wear and was definendly worn. id does has wierd lining and a wierd label maybe some one can tell more about this and what it say's on the label? might just be a name. |
