A new option has appeared in our threads and posts : the possibility to say "I like it", with the "Like" button... Just noticed it today.
Art already gave me 2 Likes !! Cheers. Ch. PS : Isn't it a duplication with the rating system for the threads (with stars), not very used BTW... ? |

Re: Like
This appeared after I upgraded the VBSEO software for the forum. It's more popular on Wordpress sites, where members can click on the like button to more or less give a "thumbs up" to a post that they well, like. To be honest I'm not to sure of where or how else to use it I think it's just a fun little gizmo that I could probably disable, but I kind of like the like button. To date, the only place I've found where you can see who likes any of the posts is to click on the username of the poster and at the right of the user's profile, you will see a box "Mini Statistics". Simply click on the appropriate link to see the relevant info.

Re: Like
It's just like facebook, except that this system has a heart icon whereas facebook, much more sensibly, has a thumbs-up/"+1".

Re: Like
So that's where the term "+1" comes from. I don't believe I've spent more than 20 minutes on facebook, but on various forums on this planet I've seen people reply to comments "+1"..I concluded the obvious that they were voicing approval, but I wondered where this came from..and now I know...

Re: Like
The other thing that makes these "Like" buttons better than the ones on social networking and other sites is that it doesn't become part of the global Internet tracking about things you dig - mainly for corporate product market researchers.
