Glory III,160397,45mm Gun Commander,97th Guards Rifle Regiment

I got this one from Alexei awhile ago, what made it a must for research was that the soldier had engraved his name crudely on the back of the order making it personalised that just HAD to be researched:D

He was also awarded a Medal for Valor and a Order of the Red Star.

Senior Sergeant of the Guard Aramais Pogosyan, Born in 1923 in Tbilisi, Georgian SSR, Nationality, Armenian. In the Red Army from 1941. Attached to 31st Guard s.d. 97th Guard s.p. Gun Commander.

Citation

During the forced crossing of Neman river in the region of Alitus city of Lithuanian SSR from 14.07.44 to 15.07.44, comrade Pogosyan showed himself as a brave, resourceful commander. Provided efficient guidance in carrying equipment - 45mm cannon and the crew.

During the capture of Alitus, destroyed German infantry by direct fire. 19.07.44 while situated in defense of the region of height 169,1 1 km westward of Alitus, during the counterattack, put two German tanks out of action. Comrade Pogosyan deserves a governmental decoration by the Order of Glory 3rd class.

Lieutenant Colonel of the Guard Bulah
24.07.44

Hope you like it....I do:)

Brendan:thumbsup

Incidentally, "s.d." is "rifle division" and "s.p." is rifle regiment. Translator needs to hit the books...
