The Medalla "Haydee Santamaría" Was instituted in 1989, with regards to the 30th anniversary of the House of the Américas. It is granted by the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba, in recognition to citizens and groups that, with a life utility and an intellectual work of high quality, have contributed to the enrichment and defense of the genuine culture of our America and its integration by the cultural routes.

That was as it stood from 1989-2007 so it stands to reason that more have been awarded since, plus many unawarded Medals on the market by now.
At the time when the Cuban section was started any information was groundbreaking because none existed on the web as such and had to be painstakingley sought on Cuban web sites.

I've noticed that there has been a good explosion of information presenting itself over the last few years. Even more helpful when Cuban organisations have their own websites that we can all access. It may well have been as dark as DPRK awards once upon a time but we continue to push forward and illuminate the facts.

I think so... I think you should be able to fill in lots of blanks left over from previous pushes. With the explosion of the internet information is presenting itself at an alarming rate. Gone are the days of writing letters, buying books, legwork! and then finding yourself at a dead end. Now you can do a quick google in a selection of languages and then find out what you need to know or that more time has yet to pass.

Unfortunately continuous digging and poking at all problems and filling in the blanks really shows us how poor or inadequate the resources we used to have were.

I currently have a nice cheap course for Cuban items and although Cuba is not a priority I will continue presenting whatever I can.

Due to there being so much fine information already laid down here I rarely search for other sources on Cuban items but on the few occasions I have, I have been surprised, such as - http://soviet-awards.com/forum/sovie...ification.html

Just as a small correction and fact: the last name of the first recipient of the list is 'Milanés'. Both he and Silvio Rodríguez are some of the most famous -and talented- Cuban songwriters and singers. :)
