"ARTA" Military Academy Badge

Hello All,
I recently purchased an academy badge with the wording "ATAR" on a silver plate. It is the usual white diamond shaped with red star and silver plate bearing the academy name. The person I bought it from said it was for an artillery academy but recently I came across an article that said that "ATAR" (ATAP) represented a military communications academy. Can anybody clear this mystery up for me please....
Thanks

It actually reads "ARTA" on the badge not "ATAR"
Not sure if anyone can help me on this but any information is appreciated.

There are a lot of variations of names and ARTA could mean artillery academy. The signals academy was the Budenny ASV.

These badges and the plaques are frequently faked or "re-minted" these days. Even on the original ones the plaques were not definied in the regulations and were up to the Academy commander to authorize. Thus many school have no plaque and others have different wording at different times.

Vikingraider1,

APTA stands for Artillery Radiotechnical Academy named after Govorov.

If you could post scans of the badge (front and back without the screwplate) we could probably tell you if it is genuine.
