Re: members decorations and medals

My own personal opinion of the marketplace having purchased from several different users is that it has brought us closer together and served as a catalyst for ever favourable relationships (with one exception). This includes transactions where there were difficulties (at either end) or even a non-completion of transaction.

Money can be a great dividing thing but most of the forum members here are reasonable and respectful enough to see far beyond the £SD.
I've found that when having not received something which certainly was send the discussion wasn't "I want my money back!!" but the other party persuading me to take a partial refund (rather than none at all).

There are some users I wouldn't consider dealing with on the marketplace if the option was there but that is my own choice. There are also an even smaller number I would (privately) advise others not to deal with.

As to the "other" topic being thoroughly discussed in this thread I can comment; When you have a certain level of information and have searched and not found it doesn't look that favourable especially when no additional backing is offered. Some people can say "trust me" and everyone will trust them, some can say it and have some trust them and some can say it and have no-one believe. If someone says "trust me" and there isn't a general consensus trusting them who is really at fault?

Re: members decorations and medals

Holy crap... I am sorry to have added to this thread. I thought it was a simple "show your own" thread. I love those types of conversations, as I love to see the various combinations of medals and awards that our very members have. It is not about being prideful or etc. I love all medal groupings. They are all full of history and etc. I did not notice all of this other stuff when I posted. I am sorry to have brought this post to the top.

Regards
Paul

I want to chime in on this as well, FOR ALL MEMBERS TO READ, IF I purchase ANYTHING from you, I WILL be paying ONLY with PAYPAL, if you fail to be able to PROVE that not only was it sent BUT DELIVERED as well AND I DON'T RECEIVE THE ITEM I PAID FOR, have zero doubt in your mind, NOT ONLY will you give me a FULL REFUND, including shipping and handling via Paypal, if you even BRING UP anything like a partial refund, I will NEG you as well. Hope this makes MY position on financial transactions in this forum CRYSTAL CLEAR.

Decide whether or not you want to do business with me BASED ON THE ABOVE.

You'll find it was already "at the top" but your contribution is certainly a very welcome one.

Could this be a group "For services to ebay"?

(Yes I threw one of my known own in just to show at least one award that currently gets an airing on a recipient's chest all the others are of a late recipient or "stock".)

The problem I had with not receiving something was maybe more self-inflicted than anything else. As I use international addresses that I am not always presently located at I can often go months (or years) without opening a package. When I get someone to open a box and ask them to tell me what's in it and they report back to me incorrectly it certainly can not be the vendor's issue, specially if close to the time of the transaction they would have been more than willing to assist. There was certainly no arguments or such. Problems of a missing or misplaced item is easy when you are making bulk purchases. I have placed many orders for bulk items of many different types and as with everything when you increase the number you increase the likelihood of something going wrong.
That being said I did stop buying groceries online when one day the supermarket was out of most things so helpfully replaced half of my order with blue cheese.

I would certainly have something to say if I ordered something on the forum and received blue cheese as a "replacement".

Re: members decorations and medals

Guys,

Sorry to bunt in, but somehow, this thread is getting seriously sidetracked.

This thread is about members' awards, and the review of some of the claims made. If you want to talk about conducting transactions on the Marketplace, why don't you open a specific thread.

Now, back to the LOM

Marc

And I was about to get some popcorn and beer to keep reading the rest of the scene...

The total number is in the very low double digits.

I will post the exact number when the U.S. Army publishes its next theater awards update.

Gents,

As promised. While the actual number of U.S. Army-awarded Legions of Merit for operations in Iraq and Afghanistan (235 total) was a bit higher than I thought, it still represents just 0.00027% of the 862,452 total decorations (ranging from the Medal of Honor to the Army Achievement Medal) which the U.S. Army has awarded for these operations through 31 August 2012.

Statistics for U.S. Army-awarded Legions of Merit (by wartime operation) follow:

For the still ongoing Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) from 5 December 2001 – 31 August 2012: 102.

For the now concluded Operation Iraqi Freedom from 15 March 2003 - 31 August 2010: 123.

For the now concluded Operation New Dawn (Iraq) from 1 September 2010 - 31 December 2011: 10.

Across these operations, only the Medal of Honor (six total), Distinguished Service Cross (25 total) and the Soldier's Medal (148 total) have been awarded fewer times to U.S. Army personnel.

slava1stclass

Gents,

While of a very sensitive nature at that time, there were indeed U.S. Army decorations awarded (principally to U.S. Army Special Forces trainers/advisors) for combat-related operations in El Salvador during the cited period. They included one Silver Star Medal, one Distinguished Flying Cross, 24 Bronze Star Medals with "V" (valor) device, three Purple Heart Medals, one Air Medal with "V" device and six Army Commendation Medals with "V" device.

No Legions of Merit were awarded to U.S. Army personnel for combat-related operations in El Salvador.
