The Ministry of the interior instituted this decoration on the 1st July 1980, it however, was created 5 years later.
The qualification badge was worn over the right upper pocket of the uniform jacket.

Award period :- 1985 – 199

Awarded in acknowledgment of excellent of training results and for the appreciation of the achievements as an authorized fire protection controller, authorized and/or assigned fire-brigade member or aide for determining the causes of fires.

General criteria :-

Exemplary execution of service.

Fulfilment of the knowledge requirements as well as successfully completed training according to the definitions of the program content and organization of advanced training for the members of the local voluntary and operational fire-brigades.

Practice in the fire-brigade service for at least 2 years and at least 1 year in the appropriate special service.

Conditions for fire protection controllers : -

Theory of the knowledge of the purpose and contents of fire protection control, the control types and methods as well as the measures in preparation of fire protection control.

Practical proof of the acquired knowledge during fire protection control and/or training control, in particular in recognizing law breaking and lack of fire protection, in the convincing explanations of fire protection requirements, the material and educational argument of law breaking in fire protection rules as well as the reason of necessary prevention measures.

Proof of the abilities and talents in evaluation of fire protection control, to prepare a report over an irregularities as well as to make the correct entries on the documents.

Conditions for aides of fire determination: -

Proof of the necessary knowledge and expertise of tactically correct behaviour in the recognition and protection of traces and evidence for the determination of the causes of fires in practise and/or during the process of advanced training

Qualification badges, Volunteer Fire Service

The Ministry of the Interior instituted these badges on the 1st July 1980.
Worn over the right top pocket of the uniform jacket.
Between 1987-1988 machinists carried a smaller number of class indication badges.

Material: non-precious, gold coloured metal or iron with brass gilt, red polyester coating

Award period: 1980 – 1990

Awarded for acknowledgment of excellent of training results and for the appreciation of the achievement of the following general conditions: -

Exemplary service execution.

Fulfilment of the knowledge requirements as well as successfully completing training, according to the definitions of the training and extended training program for the members of the local voluntary and operational fire-brigades.

Practice in the fire-brigade service for at least 2 years and at least 1 year in the appropriate special trade actively.

Conditions for Machinists of the class I and II: -

Appropriate knowledge of the fire-brigade-specific tool groups as well as the achievement parameters of the fire-extinguishing pumps and their effective extent of utilization.

Safe control of the entrusted aggregates under all operating conditions and the principles of the examination of the readiness of application of the aggregates, solving of arising problems as well as the ability to accomplish small repairs.

Adherence to the regulations over the health, work and fire protection

Machinist class I in addition: -

Driving experience with the vehicles of the fire-brigade for at least 6 months without having caused traffic accidents in the past 12 months

Exemplary behaviour in traffic under all weather and traffic conditions and strict adherence to the regulations of the StVO, StVZO (road safety regulations)

Adherence to and undercutting the standards for the consumption of fuel and lubricants by using an economic, traffic, weather and operating conditions appropriate driving and mode of operation.

Appropriate knowledge of the functions of fire-brigade specific tool and machine groups, vehicles and aggregates.

Active influencing control on the effective employment and careful handling of the equipment and instruments

Constant influencing control of accident prevention in the field

Knowledge and ability in servicing, maintenance and examination as well as in the execution of small repairs, including equipment verification paperwork.

Proof of the knowledge of the tactical rules of the most effective fire fighting procedures during fire fighting and/or co-operation with the removal of common dangers according to the emphasis in the disengaging range and the existing equipment.

Knowledge of the necessary safety regulations for the prevention of accidents

Suitability for carrying respirators and/or in voluntary fire-brigades without (LF von Atemschutzmasken?)

Participation in fire-brigade combat sport events.
