I have a Lenin state prize.

Here is my example of medal number and award certificate number.

I have the book and its box.

A programme of events and a ticket.

They are all as issued on the day

This is a piece of paper from the award box and the awardee's number on their ticket.

They seem to have there admin together to match items.

Here is the programme also included when I bought it.

How much money did one got when awarded the Lenin prize?

Lenin prize was introduced as a monetary reward in 1925 and first awarded in 1926 to several leading scientists for ground breaking research. Later it was also issued for works of art, literature, cinematography, technological achievements etc. The title of Lenin Prize Winner or “Laureate” would bring immense recognition and career benefits for life. Lenin Prize was not awarded during the Stalin’s years and was reintroduced in 1956, during the “de-Stalinization” campaign The gold medal was established during the same year.

The first person to receive it was Igor Kurchatov, the father of Soviet atomic bomb. Unlike Stalin Prize, Lenin Prize could be awarded only once in a lifetime, at least according to the more recent Soviet laws.

Prize receptors

I´d like to know the names of some famous receptors of the Lenin and Stalin Prizes. The only ones I know are the poet Pablo Neruda(Stalin Prize), Salvador Allende, Air Force Marshal Koldunov, and of course, Brezhnev(Lenin Prize)

BTW, what happened to Allende´s Lenin Prize(and AK)?

Greetings,
Esteban

Nelson Mandela

28.10.02)

Part of the Address by Former President Nelson Mandela Upon Receiving the International Lenin Peace Prize.

It is a rare occasion to finally be able to accept an award that had been made long ago under circumstances and from institutions that have since changed quite radically.

I thank you for the honour of awarding me a prize in the name of a revolutionary that history will never be able to forget.

I thank you. (Nelson Mandela)

Colleagues,

From the latest of my research - more statistics on the Lenin Prize. This should cover earlier question posted in this thread.

LENIN PRIZES were awarded in the USSR during period of 1925-1991 (were not awarded in 1935-57) for works in various fields of science, technique, literature, art, architecture.

Established: in 1925 as Lenin Prize. Some sources give date of 1928.
Reason for creating Lenin Prize: The prize was established as the socialist rival to the Nobel Prize.
Monetary value: paid its recipients amounts ranging from 50,000 to 100,000 Rubles.

Award periods: 1925 (1928??) - 1935 (1939??) and 1957 - 1991.
Freequency: awarded every even year.

Gaps in awarding: replaced by Stalin Prize (introduced in 1939 to celebrate Stalin's 60th birthday).

Until 1956, the Lenin Prize was called the Stalin Stipend. The name was changed only after Nikita Khruschev denounced mass murderer Josef Stalin at the 20th Party Congress in Moscow.

It was not just an honorary award for promoting the cause of world Communism and Soviet hegemony, but also for significant achievemnets in science and culture.

After the end of the Soviet Union, Lenin Prize transformed into the Main State Prize of the Russian Federation (formerly the Lenin Prize).

Along with the prize (amount unknown) a recepient is awarded with Gold Medal for Outstanding Achievements in Science and Technology.

Best regards,
William

Soviet Lenin Prize Award

On Ebay now for starting bid of 2395.00
Is it worth this kind of money.

Seller says:

extremely rare solid 18kt gold badge issued to receipient of the LENIN PRIZE, the highest award for technological and scientific discoveries in the Soviet Union.
The auctioned Lenin prize badge comes with a genuine document in original folio issued to Vladimir Ryabov for "increase in power of large energy installations" (i.e. top-secret work in Nuclear weapons research). The document is dated 1965 and hand signed by Mstislav Keldish, the head of Soviet Academy of Science reknown for his work in nuclear and space research. The badge is numbered 3249.

The LENIN PRIZE was one of the highest forms of awarding citizens for the most important achievements in areas of science, technology, literature, art, and architecture. It was established in 1925 and was issued until 1990 (renamed to the "Stalin Prize" between 1935-1957). Only 30 Lenin Prizes were awarded every two years from which 25 were awarded for achievements in Sciences

Hi Ron,

I don't know what the others think about this medal on eBay, but personally, I have a few question marks over it:
1. Bad ring, the hole is not even centered
2. Bad connecting link
3. Although I can't point to something specific, I have "a funny feeling" about the suspension
4. Numbers don't seem to be stamped, and not in the same style as original ones
5. Serial number is way too high for a 1965 issue
6. Gold is quite pale, although that could come from the scan
7. The final stroke to me: "Disclaimer: We have examined these items as thoroughly as we can. All the information provided is true to the best of our knowledge and represented as accurately as possible." In other words, we have no clue as to genuineness of this medal, and if it turns out not to be, well, tough luck

I definitely would love to hear other members' point of view on this one.

Marc,

I believe the medal is genuine, it's the picture that's crappy. As for the price, that's a different story. :)

Hello to the forum members,

what do you think about this Lenin price medal. The ring of the medal looks total different to original one´s.
