Re: Aeroflot Uniforms and Insignia
Sebastien,
You have a very nice 1973-1990 senior officers visor cap; probably un-issued and lacking a chin cord and buttons, so they simply borrowed an army officers chin cord and buttons. A really nice cap and a great value for your money. DougD |

Re: Aeroflot Uniforms and Insignia
thanks for your input Doug; the chin cord should be specific compared to army ones?

Re: Aeroflot Uniforms and Insignia
Sebastien,
Thats a tough one..I have had in some nice Aeroflot visors, and the chin cords are usually darker in color...I just don't think the ones on the cap are original to it, but thats just a hunch...could be totally wrong. I really think it was unissued, and they needed cords and buttons and used ones from an army officer. Its still a very nice cap! DougD |

Re: Aeroflot Uniforms and Insignia
ok, I understand the difficulty. The colour doc is scarce, you only see really recent caps, or like in the famous "undertheredstar" website "bright" chin cords... and the excellent L.H. Tokar's book contains mainly B&W photos...

Re: Aeroflot Uniforms and Insignia
How about this cap ,, it is in a worring state.
I have no clue to its age nor if it really is a aeroflot one. it has 62 and 65 buttons and the older 2 piece construction cocarde. let me know what you think, its mine already.

Re: Aeroflot Uniforms and Insignia
This cap is part of the grey summer uniform worn in 1962-1973.

Re: Aeroflot Uniforms and Insignia
All older Aeroflot items are pretty rare; it's a nice cap, just engage in a bit of restoration and hang on to it!
