Ernst-Moritz-Arnt Academy Graduation Badges
Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Universität Greifswald
At the end of the Second World War this Historical university was closed then re-opened on 15th February 1946. On the instructions of the Soviet military administration the economic department remained closed. During the GDR period there were several organizational re-shapes, closings and re-orientations. The medical faculty was reshuffled to a military-medical academy, the law faculty abolished. Only the philosophical, theological, medical and mathematical-scientific faculties remained. An agricultural faculty had been created 1946 with the former, in 1835 created agricultural academy Greifswald Eldena, in 1950 however this was moved to the University of Rostock only later to be re-instated at the Greifswald university. From 1946 to 1955 an educational faculty existed. The worker and farmer faculty (Arbeiter- und Bauern-Fakultät) " Martin Andersen Nexö" likewise established after end of war were closed 1962. These cuts in Greifswalder university structure were cancelled in most cases after 1990. The autonomy of the university, their academic autonomy and the liberty of science and art, of teachings and study were restored. Already in December 1989 the section theology was revalued again to a theological faculty Variations (1965-75) Enameled, Screwback, wording "Militärmedizinische sektion". (1975-85) Enameled, Screwback. (1985-86) lacquered, Screwback. Ernst-Moritz-Arnt Graduation Badges.

Offiziershochschule der DDR (OHS)
There were Officer universities (OHS) in the GDR for the national People's Army, the border troops and the Garrisoned units of the MdI.
At these officer school candidates and/or military high-level personnel of stature were trained. This training was also partly open for the military of the Warsaw Pact states as well as Officers from friendly States (e.g. Libya ,South Yemen ,Algeria ,Angola ,Syria ,Mosambique and North Korea ) Some these universities were: OHS "Artur Becker", Dresden (Garrisoned units of the MdI ), now state criminal police agency Saxonia OHS der LaSK "Ernst Thälmann" in Löbau and Zittau (Ground Forces) OHS "Rosa Luxemburg", Suhl (Border troops) OHS "Karl Liebknecht", Stralsund (Navy) OHS "Franz Mehring", Kamenz and until 1986 also Bautzen (Air forces/Air defense OHS "Otto Lilienthal", in Bautzen also Brandenburg (Pilots; 1986 - 1990) OHS "Otto Winzer", Prora (Learn and training basis for foreign military cadres; 1981 - 1990) For the training of officers of the NVA, MfS and VP at army and division level: Military academy of the NVA "Friedrich Engels" in Dresden Up to 1963 there was a multiplicity of different officer schools for the different branches of service of the NVA and police. On 17th June 1963 the Minister for national defense instructed the formation of central schools. On 30th November 1963 the ordered reorganisation of the officer schools of the ground forces, air forces/air defense and the Navy became official, as well as the seperate schools for border troops of the GDR ended. The training at the central officer schools began on 2nd December 1963. Now the training as an officer with diploma, "technician/ platoon leader" took uniformly three years. Only pilots with a 4 year training to "pilot engineer" as well as officers of the People's Navy formed the exception. For all training profiles only those officer applicants became certified who possessed "Abitur" or "middle reife" with cognate occupation training. The first officer rank was, as before Unterleutnant. The officer schools received the status of a university in the beginning of 1971. The graduates received the rank with conclusion of the training second lieutenant and the authorization to use the title "hochschulingenieur". The right to recive a diploma transfered to the officer universities at the beginning of of 1982. Accordingly the four year training begins and in August 1987 the first officers with diploma conclusion leave the officer universities on 1st September 1983. Eddie

Transport & Traffic University "Friedrich List"
Transport & Traffic University "Friedrich List"
The university for traffic (HfV) was a university education and research establishment for all aspects of transport and traffic, located in Dresden. It covered the railway, motor traffic/ traffic, urban/ suburban traffic OEPNV, aviation, post office- and telecommunication system telecommunications, tourism, occasionally also sea-going vessel travel and inland waterway craft travel and/or for all disciplines of the traffic sciences (economics of transport and intelligence traffic economy, traffic engineering, traffic engineering, traffic faciltiy construction). The HfV was created 1952 and was considered as the only university re-establishment in the GDR. Developed from the faculty at that time for traffic sciences of the technical university Dresden (today technical University of Dresden). The transport minister of the GDR at the time, Prof Hans Reingruber added special priority to the establishment of the university. With Prof. Gerhart Potthoff it received with the traffic-scientific location Dresden its typical scientific profile (Dresdner school of transportation technology), in particular the complex and interdisciplinary scientific work in each branch of traffic. Co-foundress and from 1952 to 1974 the chairwomen for economics, technology and traffic history was Elfriede Rehbein. In 1962 the name HfV "Friedrich List" was adapted. The HfV was subordinate to the Ministry for traffic (MfV) of the GDR until 1990 and was among other things training centre for the German National Railroad of the GDR (DR) and the German post office of the GDR (DP). In the course of the German reunification 1990 the university landscape in East Germany was adapted to the education system of the Federal Republic. Thus the HfV changed into the scope of responsibility of the Free State Saxonia. The profound structural changes of the early 1990's kindled extensive discussions over the continuation of the HfV. Among other things a concept for the shaping into a European traffic university was pursued, remained however unsuccessful. In the year 1992 then the dissolution of the HfV took place via the Free State Saxonia. With initiative of the (TU) rector Günther Landgraf the traffic-scientific and universitaere part of the university was retained and from the founding decan Günter H. Hertel as the faculty for traffic sciences "Friedrich List" in DOES Dresden integrated. The remaining mechanisms and structures (among other things main building of the HfV in direct proximity of the Dresdner of main station) were the core for in the year 1992 the again created professional school, the university for technology and economics Dresden. Establishment 1952 Faculty for traffic economy (1952) Faculty for traffic engineering (1952) Faculty for traffic faciltiy construction (1953) Structure into the 1970er/ 80's (traffic-scientific mechanisms) Section traffic and marketing and management Section vehicle technology Section technical traffic cybernetics (late section transportation technology) Section traffic faciltiy construction nature Section communications technology Section process automation Section military transport and intelligence Structure in the year of the dissolution (1992, traffic-scientific mechanisms) Faculty for economics and traffic Faculty for traffic engineerings and logistics Faculty for mechanical engineering and vehicle technology Faculty for civil engineerings and traffic infrastructure Faculty for electro-technology, telecommunications and process automation Subordinated mechanisms to the university line: Institut for traffic sociology and ecology Institut for traffic law, public right and private law Institut for economics -, technology and traffic history This is one of the rarer GDR Academy Graduation Badges only awarded 1985-86

I am new to this forum and I am trying to find out information on the Volkspolizie Academy Badges. For example, what was the difference in the civilian highschool, Arthur Becker, and Karl Liebknecht and when were they active? There is very limited information elsewhere. Anyone’s help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
