Re: Ho Chi Minh Order

I got the same type you posted.

I wonder if the glass on the front of it, is to protect the surface from scratches(?)

Again FYI the c.ty co khi 17 on the back of the award is from Engineering Company 17;

Re: Ho Chi Minh Order

Many of the current crop of Vietnamese awards have been manufactured with this domed glazed obverse. While not my "artistic" choice, it sure beats the early awards which seemed (understandably) to have been made out of stamped aluminum foil.

Some day someone may be able to give us a chronology of the various types.

Re: Ho Chi Minh Order

If anyone on the forum ever goes to Vietnam, they must visit E.C. 17!

Did you scroll down to the lower part of the page? There's a frame there with "product samples" of awards. I'd like a bit better resolution though...

The future of any chronology in the Vietnam section seem pretty dark nowadays, but in the future...?
The "new ones" are much better, but they still can't match most of the other Soviet-sphere awards, yet.

Socialist Republic of Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh Order

Hi All,

I am adding SRV pages to my website, and I had some questions from the SRV collectors out there :

1. Does anyone have any other modern type pictures ?

2. I have come across 3 types reproductions of this order. Does anyone have any other different copy types or have any others with fake numbers ? (same or other numbers) Or when they starting seeing these on the market ? Or who has been making them ?

3. Does anyone know of recipients lists ?

4. Does anyone have any other early DRV-type pictures, or any people wearing other than Giap ? Or know which museums these pictures are from ?

5. Does anyone have additional references for this order ?

The draft page is here: http://www.indochinamedals.com/srv/o...inh_order.html

Rgds

Dave
