Doc,
I have a set of medical generals boards I can scan for you if you want to see them. In addition I have a medical general's daily wear visor if you want to see some pics of that also. Let me know! Thanks Clete

I am dreading this weekend
As many of you will know, my attempt at knocking down prices on Soviet awards by declaring a lack of my personal interest in the subject had a very limited success so far. Unfortunately, I see a bigger threat to my hobby coming. Every time the stock market takes a tumble, the London Times newspaper revitalises its 'Alternative Investment' theme. This includes any sort of antiquity - pots and pans, old telephone apparatus - will I be surprised if Russian medals get a mention? There's a big auction in Finland in March, and with all the recent publicity...
Doc, can I have another dose of your insatiable optimism, please .... Sergei |

I look at it this way Sergei,
If you are going to walk on thin ice, you might as well dance Hence I'm always broke because of collecting, but I enjoy what I have Brendan

The Russian Cultural Commission is pulling the same fast one as they did on the Sotheby's auction. Given that Finland is waaaaaaaay closer to the mothership than the UK, there is a serious probability that the auction may not happen, or that the Soviet lots will be withdrawn. Marc |

Auction in Finland
All I have is the catalogue (which I did not request ). The intro says 'Most Soviet items were shown to Paul McDaniel and received approval'.
MedalHouse Orders & Medals Auction, March 2007, Helsinki. They listed 45 badges (including Long Time Factory Worker s/n 24; about 125 Soviet orders and medals, including Kutuzov 3rd, Khmeltitskiy 3rd (s/n 192), Nevskiy s/n 1860 to Jakov Zabasky, Red Banner 4th award, lots of stuff. If interested, could scan a few pages. |

Auction in Finland
I did just request a copy of the catalogue from them. We'll see if I get it.

I received a copy of the catalogue today and I must say I'm very impressed. It's a great catalogue just for the pictures. However, the prices are somewhat high to say the least. What concerns me however, is I did not request a catalogue.......
My main concern is lack of creditability, as they do not provide an unconditional guarantee of authenticity. Anyone been to this place before or are planning to attend? Kind Regards, Shane Cook. |

Shane,
They offer a "different" kind of warranty. If you buy an item, then decide to have it authenticated by PMcD and it turns out to be a fake, you'll get a refund. Marc |
