The cable-post lines were constructed in a strip of enemy artillery fire, often under enemy aviation bombardment. Line Supervisor Red Army Soldier Goroshko I. Red Army Soldier Goroshko I. G. showed genuine samples of personal courage and heroism in the period of the successful advancing activities of the 5th Army in the territory of Manchuria.
From 14th August, in the night of 15th August in the platoon of Senior Lieutenant Medvedev was attacked by a group of Japanese soldiers and officers. One Japanese soldier managed to light the automobile laden with petrol. Ignoring danger under enemy fire, Private Goroshko threw a cover over the machine and put out the fire. Thanks to the selflessness of Red Army Soldier Goroshko had saved property and the automobile.

For showing personal heroism while organising combat communications, Private Goroshko, Ivan Grigor'evich - worthy of the Governmental award - Order "Red Star".
