Order Medal entry in Ordenskaya knizhka

I saw an ordenskaya knizhka with entry for an order, that's OK. BUT - there was an entry for the combat service medal. I was under the impression that this medal should have Udostevereny K medali document. Is it a fake? or there are exeptions?

I have seen several WWII era order issue books listing za booeva zasluga awards. I think it is much less common after WWII when those medals changed from a suspended to a five sided suspension.

Tal,

This was quite common during the war, when a person had at least one order they usually listed all his awards in the same order booklet. Awards received in the 1950s (like unnnumbered Combat Service) were also often recorded in the same booklet.

I must agree with Alexei on this point as well ( as how could I not agree with a person who shares my son's name :) ). You will find in a majority of cases that medals were added into the Order Book when someone received an Order and Medal combination, especially after and during WWII. After all, they usually did not receive the Order Book until after the war, or already had the Order Book if they received a long service medal after the war.

I do have several examples in my collection where the person received a pre-WWII medal (either Combat Service or Valor) and then during the war received other Orders and medals, and they have the Medal Book for the pre-war award, and a seperate Order Book for all others. In all cases the serial numbers of the Order and Medal books have checked out with research from the archives.

I hope this makes sense,

Hello,

I a need a member who can read Russian to translate this order book for me. I have 4 of the serial #rd orders in this group, and would like to know what other Orders/Awards that I am looking for. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have included a scan of the awards book.

Thanks
Matt

I came across this Award Booklet with very suspicious handwritten entries. To me these look like they were added by someone other than official entity, handwriting is just so unofficial.

Note the double entry for Lenin order (the very first one - #7429, and then the first handwritten entry - again Lenin #7429).

By the conventional logic we would probably identify the handwritten awards as the ones that do not belong to this veteran.

What do you think?

I know this group very well. The awardee had separate booklets for his latest awards. He received HSU in the 60s. Last few entries veteran made himself. Probably, he wanted to have all awards listed in one book.

New World,

I have also seen several groups, where the recipient had written some of his awards himself, including his jubilee medals.

I think your best bet would be to have this group researched.

Eugene,

You are absolutely correct!

There is a separate booklet for the Hero Star and 2nd Lenin. I found this group on Dave's web site.

Do you know if it's in compliance with the Soviet laws for veteran adding entries into his award book?

My takeaway from this example is that when we see hadwritten entries added to the book - we may want to wait a bit with blaming the seller and labeling the group as not authentic. The group may be perfectly fine and the veterans may be the ones who made sloppy entries.

As Alexei said - the best bet is to research the groups like these.

New World,

I think you are making a very good point.

I couldn't find any specific information, but it should be very illegal to alter official State documents.
