Re: How to display Soviet awards
I was given a teak noticeboard case, maybe three inches deep, with glass windowed doors to stop students messing with the noticeboard. Have to do it up but I'll post pics when I do. Just the kind of thing you wound want for a medal display.
Also saw a glass display case being used for model cars, would look good for boxed orders as it has the depth. My space is limited though, not sure where to put it all. |

Use all the space you can for just the awards themselves. It'll look much nicer that way. Phillip

Re: How to display Soviet awards
Hi! I have built a displayer by myself, but even doing that, I had to spend a lot of money to pay the materials. Is better to keep them in a good box, in plastic.

Re: How to display Soviet awards
You have to take advantage of sales at places like Hobby Lobby, check out the local flea markets and even the occasional garage sale could reveal a curio cabinet or something along those lines.
You have to be creative unless you have the money and the space for museum cases where everything could be laid out. Maybe one day I'll find a small jewelry store (or even pawn shop) going out of business and make my own "museum". Phillip

Re: How to display Soviet awards
Here's that same frame again... now somewhat updated.... Trying to fill it with Red Stars (got 2 more just not in it yet).
You will find 41 Orders "Red Star" Order "Combat Valour" Order "Polar Star" Badge "Halhingol" Badge "Excellent Artillery" 2 Guards Badges 2 Orders "Maternal Glory" 2 Orders "Partisan Star" 3rd Class 3 Orders Of Labour. The other items such as Orders "Patriotic War" have been placed in another frame.... You can never have too many frames!

Re: How to display Soviet awards
I'm glad you folks enjoy it... When I started the frame seemed giant and almost impossible to fill but now it's quite tiny next to the two frames of DPRK Orders. I have all these frames where I can enjoy them nearly all day long and I really do enjoy them!
