May Day Items

Hello all - I started this thread to see what fellow collectors may have in their collections related to East German May Day documents.

I will start this thread off with May Day invitation card from 1952. The person who owned this May day rally card sat in block "D", row "10" at the Karl-Engels Platzes main grandstand.

Next up is an invitation card from 1953. The person who was given this card sat in block "D", row "1" at the Karl-Engels Platzes main grandstand.

Hello everyone - the next ticket/bleacher card was for the May 1954 parade. The person who had this card sat in block "D", row 8 at the Karl-Engels Platzes main grandstand.

I recognize the artwork on these last two cards as also being used for badges for the years cited (I have the '54 and some of the later badges). Nice to see some documentation that could be coupled with the badges. :thumbsup

Next up is a May Day ticket for the 1956 parade. The seating area for this card was for block "C", row 7. This ticket wa sfor the Karl-Engels Platzes main grandstand in East Berlin.

Going back to what I said in post #4, here is an image of the badges that go with the '54 and '56 invitations. The image quality is poorer than normal as these were taken/separated from a much larger image I used in the past.

Are the badges pin or screw back?

Both the badges are stamped from relatively thin brass with a pin back that is glued on. They don't have the feel of something that was "built to last" any longer than the event itself, although they are a step up from the compressed paper badges of earlier years.

The next May Day card is from May 1957. The person who had this ticket was seated in Block E, Row 7 at the Karl-Engels Platzes main grandstand in East Berlin.
