Re: Irina Evgen'evna Rjazanova-Ermolova, International Tennis Champion.

Champion in Women's Doubles - a full set of traffic lights.

Not a perfect year for the 19/20 year old but it did leave her ranked #7.

Re: Irina Evgen'evna Rjazanova-Ermolova, International Tennis Champion.

At the All-Union Competition In Closed Court Tennis of 1959 she was placed Second in Singles, Third in Female Doubles and Triple Jump with a jump of 6 Metres 17 Centimetres. If she'd have jumped twice as far she'd have got the world record (but Terri Turner would have still taken it off of her).

Re: Irina Evgen'evna Rjazanova-Ermolova, International Tennis Champion.

Irina won the Females Singles at the 1st Universiade of the Fédération Internationale Du Sport Universitaire which was held in Turin, Italy between 26th August and 7th September 1959. Irina won the USSR's only Medal in Tennis.

All of Irina's Non-Socialist nations' award documents are missing. I think this will be most likely due to one of two reasons. She didn't sell the Non-Socialist ones or what I believe more likely, her "handlers" didn't let her bring the Non-Socialist pieces back.

1960 was a big year for Irina. Starting at the (Clay Court) National Indian And Northern Championships in New Delhi running from 3rd-10th January 1960.

In the Singles Quarter Finals she defeated M. Khesha 6-3, 6-0
In the Semi Finals she was defeated by Mimi Arnold 6-4, 7-5

Next was the Madhya Pradesh Tournament in Indore ending on 16th January 1960 where she was defeated in the Finals, once again by Mimi Arnold 6-4, 6-1

By this time she was a bit of a pin-up.

On 1st March 1960 Anna Dmitrieva and Irina Rjazanova defeated Filippova/Preobrazhenskaja 6-2 6-2 in the Doubles finals of the All-Russia Indoor Championships in Moscow.

A week later on 8th March 1960 at the Dinamo International Indoor Championships in Moscow Irina was Champion again.

The tables were turned in the Doubles Finals as Vera Pužejová and Velve Tamm of Estonia defeated Anna Dmitrieva and Irina Rjazanova 8-6, 6-4.
