I first saw one of these in a journal in the mid- to late-90's and finally got a chance to examine one up close.
Another such example visible on the web uses the "Victory over Germany Medal" ribbon (also known as "Georgian" ribbon and is the same one used on the Soviet "Order of Glory"). This particular one uses the ribbon for the Soviet 40th Anniversary of the Victory in the GPW Medal, which I think is most interesting since it incorporates the above-mentioned ribbon, but also coincidentally uses the red and green of the Moldovan Transnistrian Republic. An accompanying document is a letter-sized certificate bearing the Cossack Union (Soyuz Kazakov) letterhead and is signed by a "Pokhodnii Ataman" Colonel V.V. Naumol and bears a facsimile stamp of the Cossack Union, as well as one of the Black Sea Cossack Troops Chapter in Tiraspol. Last edited by CtahhR; 07-01-2016 at 11:51 PM. |

Re: Cossack Union Cross "For The Defence Of Pridnestrovie"
Here's another example with name and date (recipient's birthdate?) engraved on reverse. Note this has the "correct" or at least more commonly encountered ribbon.

Exceptional.
Whilst researching (and purchasing) PMR items these crosses pop up quite frequently yet very little is known about who is awarding them or why or indeed in what sort of quantity.

Re: Cossack Union Cross "For The Defence Of Pridnestrovie"
Picked up one of these not too long ago, more as a "completer" to the early end of my PMR collection.
