Since President Bush is going to the Victory Parade, I"m sure we can expect extensive coverage of it on CNN and the networks here in North America, so you'll be able to watch it from the comfort of your own television.

Actually, I doubt there will be anything even remotely approaching "extensive coverage" of the parade itself from U.S. media. Much of the coverage to date regarding the parade is focusing on Bush's visits to Latvia and Georgia "bookending" the parade, and the pro-democracy, anti-Soviet/authoritarian message he has already been elucidating.

Pretty cynical, but ultimately true I suppose. His visits to Latvia and Georgia will highlight the US's foreign policy towards Russia (Putin in particular is not pleased about those visits), and those trips are historic in their own right. But an image of an American president co-reviewing parading ex-Soviet troops and veterans will surely be a Time Magazine cover pic! Will they be reviewing the troops from Lenin's Tomb as in the Soviet days, or have they chosen a more politically neutral venue?

Great pics!
The Veteran on the left (1st pic) seems to have about the entire listed Awards on PMD Guide! WOW! From these and other pics it looks like there are still plenty of Soviet Orders & Medals to flow the market in the (near/medium therm) future! Dolf |

Bryan, Those laws are not really "new", and they keep coming... Sure not enough but then again the number of Western (and Eastern) collectors increased, the number of pieces available in the market diminished... Well, but that's another thread I guess... As for the parade I wasn't able to see it either, so as Tal and Justin I'd put myself on line if some of the fellow members was able to help with that... I bet it was certainly a beautiful parade to watch! Dolf |
