That's a nice, basic, mounted group. 85 issue OGPW I presume?
What's the dangly thingee in the upper left? :)

Eric,
Thanks!!Yes it's a 1985 OPW, 2nd class jubillee award. The "dangly thing" is the Badge for the 25th Anniversary of the GPW.

Victory over Germany document.

A question. Why the document number is in front? That meant it has the number and the letter?

Hi Ruiz,
How do you mean in front? It is a booklet, 4 pages, the document number is on the last page. Maybe I do not understand your question.

I think he meant, "why is the number not inside the booklet" (in page 2 or 3).

Most of the documents have their number inside instead than outside as it is the case with victory over germany.

If this is what you mean Ruiz, you can visit MONDVOR's website (created by a forum member) and see photo of every documents and their variations. You will see that your document is normal with its number on page 4.

Victory over Germany Doc Details

Hi Guys,

I have decided to collect a wide selection of documents for this medal as it gives me a chance to develop a large collection without stopping my mortgage repayments.

In my latest batch I have translated most but could do with a little help on these three:
  1. VoG 1: What does it say before 1st Ukrainian Front? What is after Major-General ? ? (Technical Forces?) Pirochek?
  2. VoG 2: What does БНФ stand for? The stamp on the document has something to do with maintenance battalion.
  3. VoG 3: What does it say before the name? I make the name to be Marin Ierdanov Kunchev.

    Thanks for any help.

    Simon

#1 is Chief of Railroad Troops, and yes, Technical Troops

#2 I believe it's not BNF, but BNO - just appears that way. Any more details of the document to unlock BNO or BNF?

Stamp from VoG 2

Hi Paul,

Thanks very much for your help. You are right the abbreviation is BNO. The vertical stroke to make the F was from the signature. I have attached the stamp from the same document to see if that helps.

Any idea about the text on VoG 3? Also, the certificate you sent me awarded by the evacuation hospital had the rank of Major m/s. Is this for medical services?

Thanks,

Simon
