Re: Fake Saving Drowning Medals

This is another from a batch of what appear to be fakes to me being sold on ePay from one seller. Cheap, but very annoying regardless.

Phillip

Re: Fake Saving Drowning Medals

The pictures really should be better, but from what I can see it looks good. The odd suspension ring is as it should be.

The problem with these types of medals is, as Eric(FG) pointed out in a different thread, they are widely and easily faked because good copies are so hard to spot without either having the expertise or the medal in your hands.

Re: Fake Saving Drowning Medals

Retired,

It looks OK to me from what can be seen. As Phillip indicated, better scans would not hurt.

Alexei, old chum, if I had worded it, "despite the inadequate level of detail visible in the images, I cannot make out anything to suggest it is not OK, so kindly take better photos before make any determination at all" would it have been better?;)

In short, I think we both qualified our opinions with statements to the effect of: considering what we were given to work with...:)

In my opinion, this is one of the hardest medals to determine authenticity just from photos or scans, but I didn't see anything overtly off about it - so far.

Yes, what Phillip said :)

The new pictures are great, and as far as I can tell the medal appears to be genuine.
