"Crown Jewels"

Everyone,

recently I started paying a little more attention to some of the higher-end and rare awards. I am also aware that the members of this forum possess some of the truly very rare pieces whether they are Orders, Medals, or other Soviet military items.

Those of us who are comfortable sharing such information:

I wanted to call upon the members of this forum to share their "Crown Jewels" with the rest of us.

I am reading Kutsenko's "Cavaliers" book, and see quite a few references to US phalerists who purchased the highest military awards. I am sure everyone on this forum would love to hear about these "celebrities" if they are among us.

Thank you!

Eric

About me:
souvorov 3rd 9xxx with group and docs
khmelnitski 3rd 3xxx w/doc
nevski screw 37xxx.
A gen uniform and visor cap M1955, extraordinary quality...
great pieces of history, I'm very lucky.

and what are your hoped crown jewels?
If I'm very rich, a HSU about the battle of Berlin? (proposed at a renowned dealer)
If Im correctly rich, a koutouzov (the big trio will be complete) and a HSL group, typically communist.
If I'm not rich, little groups of current stuff representative of the soviet "culture", bought on flea market and at Alexei's!

I think I will stay quiet. My collection is no where near as impressive as all of yours!

Maybe with time and most of all cash I will get there.

for the hoped crown jewel, let me dream a bit...as a little civil servant, my finances now don't allow me high pieces. I worked hard to buy this stuff and now government taxes make me pay the invoice!!!

I don't have much in the way of rare orders, medals or badges, but I do have some very nice and equally rare Air Force items. I have a pilot NCO's M1940 pullover tunic, a pilot Captain's M1940 Pullover tunic, an M1943 pilot Junior Lieutenant's pullover tunic and breeches, a Senior Lieutenant's Kitel tunic and trousers, and am awaiting a pilot Major's "French" tunic. I also have a fighter pilot's flight helmet with radio equipment, a fighter pilot's logbook with dozens of entries of types of missions and aircraft flown. BUT, I am waiting for my crown jewel to arrive. I bought a fighter pilot parachute from a dealer in Russia, and it was supposedly shipped at the end of October by surface freight. I've been assured it will get here (I'm in San Francisco) and to be patient, but after all the horror stories I have heard about Russian Customs I still worry. Now if someone can provide me with an original set of WW2 goggles, I'll be all set!

Gene

Here's my blue top officer's visor, circa 1940:

Here's my WW2 Russian Air Force pilot helmet. It was modelled after the German style and is very rare.

My M1940 "French" tunic which is enroute to me:

Hi Folks

How about some scans to show us your "Jewels"

Two of my favourite medals and awarded when they meant something.

The Red Star 3 rivet is a particular Low Number. 23986.

Some of my jewels:

-Cavalier Set of Order of Labor Glory with docs;
-Full HSU Set with docs awarded to someone who eventually rose to be a Vice Minister of Education(!) in one of the URs. Have his Flatback Order of Badge of Honor and both Flatbacks of Order of Red Banner of Labor, with all docs, he and his wife's jubilee medals and docs, as well as some of his supporting docs (CP book, gramoti, etc.);
-2 Orders of Lenin with docs;
-Flatback Order of Badge of Honor and Flag Rope Sash awarded to a UR Newspaper;
-Old style NKVD officer parade uniform with docs, photos and medals, including Ushakov, Odessa/Sevastopol (he was awarded consecutively numbered Orders of Red Star);
-lots of screwback Red Banners, and partisans with docs.

-Also highest military heroism award from UR---#0003.
