Well it arrived very pleased with it thus far, there is water damage present but otherwise its good.

Out of curiosity what does it mean by troops of physical labor troops to help clean up the city?

Possibly construction/restoration/supply/guard etc, not combat or front line.

Considering he was physically fit for labour, he was possibly shellshocked or "too old" and his allocated role will have reflected that. There was an almost endless list of tasks for those physically fit away from the front.

According to his own word, he was also called up in 1916 to Construction Troops.
