Yugoslav Army (JA) officer ID

Here's an old version of the JA Officer ID from 1948- surprisingly it was used well into the 1960's when the army was already JNA and the owner became a general...

It was worn in an untitled black plastic cover. I have removed it as it seems to have degraded the photograph a bit.

The original cover has the state seal and the name "Yugoslav Army". Judging from the greenish patina, it seems that the etters were originaly gold. The cover is made of genuine leather.

The inside has the photoraph of the owner in the pre-1955 colonel uniform (interestingly - I have seen these soviet-style shoulderboards being reffered to as "partisan-style, which is rather odd as the NOVJ never used shoulderboards, marking the ranks on cuffs) with 4 ribbons and a badge (any help identyfying it will be welcome) stamped in the military unit 22132
The document has a name "ID of the active officers, generals, admirals and military clerks of the Yugoslav Army" and gives the data on the owner - colonel D'uro Matić son of Josip. Not sure what the "Nar. 46/48" means - possibly 1946 is the date of the promotion while 1948 is the date of taking current post. It is signed by his CO, but I can't make out the name.

Re: Yugoslav Army (JA) officer ID

Close-up on the photograph...

The date of birth is given as 19 april 1915, in Srpska Moravice, region of Karlovac, Croat People's Republic.
Nationality given as Serb
Date of joining the army as July 1941, so he was a member of the partisan movement almost from the very beggining.
Thera only 3 changes in his service record noted:
from 1st January 1948 he begun the service in unit 22132 in Belgrade
From 1st June 1954 - in unit 7945 also in Belgrade
From 21 July 1969 - in the unit 1253, also in the capital. There's also some note on this assignment - probably the details on a personnel order.

Then we have his promotions:
Promoted to major-general by the order 22/I of 22December 1956
Promoted to lieutenant-general by the order 194 of 22 December 1963

Re: Yugoslav Army (JA) officer ID

His awards - I would be greatful for help deciphering them:
OBJ 1st class nr 907 from 1946 (Order of Brotherhood and Unity?)
OZ 1st class nr 498 from 1946 (Order of Merit?)
PZ 3rd class nr 4247 from 1945 (Partisan Star?)
ON nr 8327 from 1945 - apparently awarded by the command of the 11th Corps? (No idea what award it is)
"Spomenica 1941" (???)
PZ 2nd class nr 4196 (Again, I guess it's the Partisan Star)
ONA 2nd class - 1952 (Order of the People's Army?)
OR Zastave - 1954 (Order of the Red Banner?)
OVZ 1st class - 1958 (Order of the Military Merit)
ORd CZs - 1964 (??????????)

He had a 9mm Herstal pistol since June 1950

Changes in the military registry...

All that I have found on Matić so far:
https://bs.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spisak...dmirala_JNA:_M
lt.-gen. of the JNA, finished active service in 1973 (which makes it very likely that he used this ID for almost 30 years!)
and:
https://sl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Đuro_Matić
- during the war he was a political comissar of a few units, after the war he was, inter alia, chief of the construction directorate of the JNA (if I understand correctly - I am no expert in Slovenian)

Re: Yugoslav Army (JA) officer ID

Many thanks for identifying.
The fact that the booklet is partly filled in with cyrilic script made me mistake OH for ON. Now, this makes perfect sense

As for the Czechoslovak order - does that mean that they would write "Czechoslovakia" with "Cz" in Serbo-croatian? Also, why Order of Labour? It makes sense that "ORd CZs" may be "Czechoslovak Order", but why OL? Just curious.

Re: Yugoslav Army (JA) officer ID

I didn't think of that, but it seems probable. Thanks!
