Bibikov, Aleksandr Vasil'evich, Starshina, Head Of Feed Supply, 213th Rifle Division
Hi,
it's simple group that i found yesterday, with nice low numbered type 2 bravery ( 576 600 ) and Red Star. In the order book of the star is on page 5 hand written with pencil: PRIKAZ 52. ARMII 13.06.1945. So war time star, what he recieved bit later. But what i like most is that he recieved medal for victory over germany and also medal for Valiant labor in patriotic war. I don't know if that is something unusual, but at least it's first small group that came to my collection and has bouth medals to one person. Scan's are made unfortunately with digital camera, sry if the arent the best regards Lauri |

Lauri,
Very nice little group. The smaller groups are the best ones I think (and you can get lots of them!) Enjoy it!

I'm betting that he was probably wounded, sent to hospital, and only later did his Red Star catch up with him. The presence of a Labor Victory medal also points to that - he would have worked in some sort of labor capacity immediately following his wounding and earned it. Just a guess, but I've seen it before like that.

This group looks to be the result of some serious clerical errors (or prejudice against an Estonian).
Here is the citation for Red Star #2873801, it mentions the previous "For Bravery". Not wounded.

Here is the citation for the Medal "For Bravery" #576600. Things start to look a bit confused at it mentions - in great detail - a pre November 1943 Medal "For Combat Merits". Not recorded in the booklets as would be expected if issued.

Even more strangely is this 15th October 1944 Medal "For Combat Merits" is also AWOL. It mentions the Medal "For Bravery" but not previous Medal "For Combat Merits". Still no wounds.
