Suvorov III,3501,Commander,91st Rifle Regiment,37th Rifle Division
I don't have the capability of posting a photo, but my Order of Suvorov, 3rd class, is number 3501 and was awarded to Lieutenant Colonel Prokopy Prokhorovich Tarabaev on 04/15/1945. The following is from the Commendation::
"Lieutenant Colonel Tarabev commanded his regiment during the 02/20/1945 offensive in the area of the village of Vamzhi. He proved himself as a courageous and bold officer capable to organize cooperation and to command his units under difficult circumstances.. At 2:00P.M. on 02/20/1945 the enemy covertly concentrated up to a batallion of infantry supported by 26 tanks and self-propelled guns and launched a counterattack against units of the 91st Rifle Regiment. The personnel of the 91st Rifle Regiment under Lientenant Colonel Tarabaev's command courageously fought against German infantry and tanks. In this unexpected and uneven fight the enemy left on the battlefield 50 dead officers and soldiers and lost four tanks and two self-propelled guns. During the night the regiment repelled seven German counterattacks. It held the position inflicting heavy losses on the enemy in equipment and personnel." Prior to this award, Tarabaev had received the Order of the Red Banner on 02/02/1942 and again on 03/17/1942. He also received the Order of the Red Star on 11/03/1944; a third Order of the Red Banner on 06/20/1949 and the Order of Lenin on 11/15/1950. The latter was for "long service." Interesting commendation
Sergey,
that is a very interesting commendation, because usually you get for repelling a severe enemy attack "only" a Kutuzov. But I think, that in your case it was very heroic deed, because the Nazis attacked with 26 tanks units of his rifle regiment, this might explain the Suvorov - my humble theory. Best regards Christian |

I have tried to enter the Serial # Data Base by clicking on the appropriate button at the end of this thread, but nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need permission to enter?
