Re: A WWII Guardia Badge

The flat back reminded me of a "dembel" guards badge I have. I'm still not sure that the added back plate makes the badge look any better on a uniform.

Re: A WWII Guardia Badge

I think post war as well. It's hard to tell from the images but is that paint on the banner and not enamel?

Re: A WWII Guardia Badge

It's all good. Enamel on both places (white enamel often looks like paint, but these badges didn't have any paint). It is definitely post-war and in great shape.

I think there is still a photo up in the Marketplace under "Soviet Awards for sale" that has just about every WWII type and a couple of the post-war variants (thanks Komandir RKKA). You can see the differences (mainly in the flag) between war and post-war awards.

Welcome to the forum.

An Estonian Made WWII Guards Badge

I recently became the proud owner of the 'been-there-done-that' WW II Soviet Guards Badge pictured below, which was made in Tallinn, Estonia. According to AVERS 8, page 461, it was produced in 1944. It is, arguably, one of the rarest variations of the 1942-1950 Soviet Guards Badge. I just wanted to share my joy at having acquired such a nice badge with you guys and, naturally, welcome any comments.

Re: Guards Badges

Here's a really nice one that came in today. A GPW-era badge no doubt. :)
A bit of a repair on the back :p which gives it a 'rode hard, put away wet' look to it. :chuckle

Finally found a War issued example with near perfect enamel and gilding. . .

I am not sure if the screw piece and the badge are originally mated, so to speak.

Re: Guards Badges

G'day Bill,

What a little beauty! Very nice indeed. I too would like to see the reverse and especially the nut, thanks.

Regards,

Jim
